Ready to take on a new school year

Wichita Falls Service Center helps schools to better serve children and families

Educating Texas

It’s hard to go back to school without supplies. So Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas’ Wichita Falls Service Center got to work. The service center collaborated with Scotland Park Elementary in Wichita Falls Independent School District (ISD) for their 2017 Project Back to School.

Service Center employees donated more than 1,500 school supplies to the district. Twenty employee volunteers handed out supply filled backpacks. And Blue Bear attended to put a smile on the children’s faces as they received their new backpacks, ready to take on the school year.

Wichita Falls ISD is located in Montague County, which has a population of 19,416. In that county more than a quarter of the residents are eligible for food stamps. That leaves a significant part of the population in need of support and assistance. The BCBSTX Wichita Falls Service Center partners with the school’s risk manager to address the needs of the children. The service center hosts drives for food, clothes and money to help serve the area children and their families.
